GITHURAI TRIO THROUGH TO SHABAN GICHUHI DOMESTIC CUP ROUND OF 16

Irungu Joseph was the star of the moment after scoring a brace to send Githurai Sharks in to the round of 16 of the ongoing Shaban Gichuhi domestic cup.

Githurai had to master their composure, coming from behind to win 3-1 against a marauding Bentoz FC.

Branton Onyango, collecting the ball from inside the box shook the net in the 13th minute to put Bentoz in the driver’s seat. Their celebration was however, short lived with Stephen Wahinya responding a minute later for Githurai Sharks.

Irungu Joseph stepped to the plate, netting the second in the 28th minute before cementing Githurai’s place in the round of 16 with a 34 minute goal.

Holy Mary became the third team from Githurai to qualify to the next stage of the competition after a2-1 victory over Union Fc at Mahiga grounds.

The tie pitting Roysambu Sharks and Marurui fc ended 4-5 on penalty shootouts in favor of the later. Ryan Wanyonyi, Mike Okatch, Brian Gitari and Nehemiah Otieno scored for Roysambu while Maramba Nicholus, Kariuki Kelvin, Kahiu Derrick, Silas Alex and Michael Mugo shook the net for winners Marurui Fc.

Pac University was whitewashed 3-0 by Roysambu fc, Blitz winning 3-2 on penalty shoot outs against Ghetto Fc.

The match pitting Hebron against Real Soweto was decided via penalties after the match ended 0-0 on regular time. Hebron carried the day after winning 7-6 on spot kicks.

Mapogo fc lost 1-3 to City Lions while Kahawa pride beat ABC FC 1-0.

Zimmerman united will take on Bulldogz while Nairobi prisons will play Vikings in the remaining knock out fixtures.

The winners of the knock out stage join the reigning and two times Sakaja cup champions, Githurai all-stars who got a direct ticket in to the round of 16.
