KCB RFC has emerged as the overall winner of the 2023 National Sevens Championship with 113 points, 9 points ahead of the second-placed Kabras RFC.
The Lions clinched the overall title after bagging the Kabeberi 7s title, which happened to be the final leg of the National sevens circuit.

On their way to the 7s circuit glory, KCB Rugby Club outclassed Mwamba RFC in the quarters with a resounding 33-07 victory to book its place in the semis. The match was a testament to KCB’s ability to control the pace and capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving their opponents in awe.
The semi-finals brought another gripping contest, with KCB Rugby Club edging out Nondies RFC with a tight scoreline of 12-07. The grand finale witnessed KCB Rugby Club’s extraordinary performance as they dominated Top Fry Nakuru with a commanding 24-00 win to clinch the prestigiously idolised by many, the GEORGE MWANGI KABEBERI 7S TITLE.
KCB RFC 7s Head Coach Andrew Amonde said, “This victory is a testament to the talent and commitment of our team, and we are grateful for the unwavering support of our fans. We are now going back to the drawing board, strategize and come back for the next tournament more energized and focused and stamp our authority as a rugby powerhouse in the country.”
KCB has now bagged 3 titles in this circuit: the Dala 7s and Christie 7s, and now the Kabeberi 7s.
“It hasn’t been a fun ride, but we are grateful that we are finally the champions. We had a few upsets along the way, but I must laud the boys for not giving up and fighting to the end, and now, the resilience has paid off.” Amonde added.
After the resounding victory at the National 7s, the bankers who have had an upsetting season after losing out to the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup, will be shifting focus to the new season awaiting confirmation by the Kenya Rugby Union.
