‘Korea’ Back at NSL Side Naivas Fc as Head Coach

Nairobi, Kenya. August 16th, 2023- Colins Omondi ‘Korea’ is back at the National super league side Naivas Fc after a nine years hiatus.

The Former Posta Rangers and Mathare united tactician put pen to paper a one-year contract. Korea will lead a technical bench that comprises Ajustine Jaziri, goalkeeper trainer Jacob Obonyo, and team manager Charles Maina.

Naiavas Fc finished fifth last season with 47 points, 31 goals for, and 34 goals against. Omondi is looking forward to surpassing this performance and bettering his charges chances of gaining promotion to the top-flight league in the country.

‘’ Our target is to collect as many points as possible. Last season the first team finished with 73 points. Our target is getting at least 70 points, whereby we must work for twenty-plus wins and more than 18 clean sheets.

To achieve this Naivas has less than two weeks to replace their two top strikers Ken Mutembei who has since joined Kenya premier league side Posta Rangers and Kelwish John Walumbuka who has joined Bidco United. The two goal poachers netted more than half of the team’s goals last season.

‘’We need to score over fifty goals and make sure we concede less than twenty goals in the entire season’’. The best attackers left. I must replace them with players that can score more goals than the two did. By next week I will have found the best replacement. So far I have one and am looking for two more strikers.’’ Said Korea

‘’ The pre-season is tough, we just resumed from the holidays, it is intense but we are ready for it. We want to start the league on a high and collect positive results in the first ten games. We have already set the standards, we are a force to reckon with and the players are up to the task. Julius Gitahi, Naivas Fc Captain

This season is bound to be a tough one with newly promoted sides Rainbow Fc and Nairobi Elite enjoying a considerable amount of financial support.  Mathare United who were recently demoted to NSL are likely to get a sponsor and will be a tough challenger, as they fight tooth and nail to regain their big ‘dog’ status. This allows them to sign quality players making the league more competitive.

The 2023-2024 national super league season is set to kick off on the weekend of 16-17 September 2023. Naivas Fc will open the season against Mwatate United at the Wundanyi Stadium in Taita Taveta County.
