FKF Premier League side Bandari FC have called trials to recruit players for their newly formed female side Bandari Queens, this Saturday 19th August 2023 at Mombasa Sports Club from 7 am.
The formation of the female side aligns with the FKF requirements stating that every male top-tier team should have a ladies’ team or have a written agreement with an entity that runs a female team participating in the top tier.
FKF’s directive is in line with CAF’s club licensing requirements that directed all clubs that participated in 2022 CAF competitions to own a ladies’ team or enter into an agreement with an existing one.
“Specifically on the sporting criteria in the CAF Men’s Club Licensing Regulations (edition 2022), CAF has now introduced a requirement for women’s football teams, which means that clubs intending to participate in the CAF Interclubs competitions must have at minimum one (01) women’s first team participating in a competition sanctioned by the member association,” said CAF.
“To comply with this requirement, clubs may operate the women’s team(s) itself or have a written agreement with another entity who operates the team(s).”
Bandari joins other top-tier teams such as AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, and Police FC that have formed or acquired female teams to adhere to club licensing requirements.
