Cameroon secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Gabon at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, grinding out a result that showcased experience, resilience, and timely quality in a tightly contested encounter.
The opening exchanges were cautious, with both sides wary of conceding early ground. Cameroon enjoyed more possession, circulating the ball patiently through midfield, while Gabon remained compact and dangerous on the break.
Cameroon’s first real chance arrived midway through the half when a curling effort from outside the box forced a sharp save from the Gabonese goalkeeper. Gabon responded moments later, carving out their best opportunity of the half as a quick counterattack ended with a low shot that skimmed past the post. Despite the intensity, the sides went into the break locked at 0–0.
