Harambee Stars Shock Qatar AT THEIR BACKYARD

Goals from Joseph Okumu and Amos Nondi helped Harambee Stars beat Qatar 2-1 in an international friendly match played at the Al Janoub Stadium.
Turkish coach Engin Firat handed foreign-based Daniel Anyembe his first start in national colors, starting as a right back ahead of Amos Nondi who has been preferred in the position in the past.
Eric Ouma manned the other fullback while Johnstone and Joseph Okumu partnered in central defence with Bryne Odhiambo starting between the sticks.
Antony Akumu, Richard Odada, and Kenneth Muguna started at the center of the pack while Masoud Juma, Elvis Rupia, and Michael Olunga hunted for goals.
Harambee Stars opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Reims defender, Joseph Okumu pounced on a corner delivered by Kenneth Muguna to head home.
The lead barely lasted quarter an hour as Hassan Al Haydos restored parity for the hosts in the 34th from the spot after Eric Ouma brought a man down in the penalty area.
It was all square going into the breather with all to play for in the second half.
Firat made a change at the beginning of the second period withdrawing Elvis Rupia and replacing him with Ayub Masika Timbe as he sought a win that has ben elusive for the team recently.
The winning goal would come from substitute Amos Nondi who pounced on a Michael Olunga cross to score in the first minute of added time.
Harambee Stars held on till the final whistle.
Focus will now shift to the next friendly against South Sudan which will be played on 12th at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani from 4 PM.
